The Outer Banks of North Carolina are unique in having the closest
marinas to the Gulf stream. This creates for some of the best fishing
on the east coast that is easily accessible with a short boat ride
out for offshore trips, or if you prefer a shorter day, an inshore
trip to avoid crowded fishing piers. As provided below, an explanation
of the two different types of trips offered. We also have marina
directions to make sure you
get to the right place. Once a trip is booked all information pertinent
to the boat itself will be given, such as time to meet the captain
and what marina and slip the boat is docked in.
Inshore Trip
These trips can range from a four to five hour trip. Open boats
(no salon) can be arranged to carry from one to six people on light
tackle near shore, running approximately four hours. Intermediate
trips are generally a little longer and can carry parties up to
six. Depending on your preferences, we will set up a proper trip
for you and your party. According to the time of year, one can expect
to catch amberjack, sea bass, blue fish, striped bass (rockfish
and stripers), spanish mackeral, and/or cobia.
Offshore Trip
This trip is an all day excursion consisting of a six
person party. Once you book a trip, all relevant information will
be given about the boat and its location. As with the inshore trip,
depending on the time of year, one can expect to catch tuna (year
round), wahoo, sharks, giant bluefin tuna (December through March),
dolphin (mahi mahi), and billfish (including big blue marlin up
to 1000 pound from spring to fall).
Remember this is the best place to catch offshore fish on the east
coast since the Labrador current from the north and the Gulf stream
out of the Gulf of Mexico meet here. Best time of the year for fishing
is October, November, and December when the boats will be chunking
for yellowfin tuna up to 100 pounds on stand up tackle. These trips
usually limit out by midday!
*Note: Bait and tackle are provided on both inshore and offshore
trips. Food and drink are not.
